Pune Considers Purification Plant Amid Concerns Over Untreated Dam Water

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is considering establishing a small water purification plant in response to concerns about the supply of untreated dam water to areas including Nanded Gaon and DSK Vishwa. This initiative follows a recent outbreak of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) in Pune, with investigations linking the infections to contaminated water. The proposed plant would have a capacity of one million litres per day (MLD). Officials are also urging private hospitals to support investigations by the National Institute of Virology (NIV).
