Raging Floods, Rising Fears: The Unrelenting Aftermath of Cyclone Alfred

Cyclone Alfred has created a path of destruction throughout Australia's east coast, with its most devastating effects being experienced in Queensland and New South Wales. Although downgraded, the storm is still causing heavy flooding and power disruptions. More than 330,000 homes and businesses have been left without electricity, with the Gold Coast being the worst hit. Emergency services have attended many incidents, ranging from flood rescues to road closures. The Australian government has declared assistance to the affected families via disaster recovery payments, while authorities are warning of increased risks from unpredictable floodwaters. They are cautioning people against complacency as more rain is anticipated.
