Recycling Gets a Makeover—Delhi’s E-Waste Park Leads the Charge

Delhi will become India's e-waste management center with the launch of the country's first e-waste eco-park in Holambi Kalan. The ambitious initiative was launched by the Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, which will handle 51,000 metric tonnes of electronic waste annually and create thousands of green jobs.

A Pioneering Project for the Circular Economy

The eco-park will span 11.4 acres of land and will operate on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system.

Stringently designed to handle all 106 e-waste categories provided in the E-Waste Management Rules, 2022.

Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) will float a global tender to draw the best green technology partners.

Economic and Environmental Impact

The plant will generate revenues of ₹350 crore, pushing Delhi's green economy.

It will make the informal e-waste recycling industry legal, enhancing conditions of work and efficiency.

There shall be specifically allocated categories for plastic recycling, reconditioning, disassembling, and a second-hand electronics market.

Future Prospects and Country Development

Delhi's eco-park is the first among four eco-parks planned in India.

The project is in line with India's vision to reduce reliance on virgin resources and promote sustainable industrial practices.

Construction will be finished within 18 months, and it will be a model for nationwide responsible e-waste handling.
