Zoom Communications sped up its India plans, revealing the availability of its cloud-based business phone system, Zoom Phone, in six major telecom circles, and the release of its AI-driven omnichannel Contact Center. The rollout positions Zoom as a compelling unified communications leader for business in one of the globe's most rapidly expanding digital economies.
Key Highlights
Zoom Phone Now Available in Six Major Circles: The offering is now available in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Karnataka (Bengaluru), and Andhra Pradesh & Telangana (Hyderabad), after earlier expansions in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu (Chennai).
Compliant and Licensed: Zoom Phone is fully licensed by India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT), ensuring compliance with regulations and secure, local data storage.
Cloud-Based, Not SIM-Based: In contrast to traditional mobile services, Zoom Phone is a cloud-based PBX service that enables businesses to bring voice calling on mobile, desktop, and desk phones using existing data connections.
AI-Augmented Features: Integrated AI capabilities such as call summaries, voicemail prioritization, and task extraction boost productivity for remote and hybrid teams.
Seamless Integration: Zoom Phone and the new Contact Center integrate with one another, allowing businesses to enjoy a single platform to handle voice, video, chat, social media, and email conversations all from a single dashboard.
Flexible Deployment: Organizations can choose to employ indigenous Zoom numbers or port current carrier numbers like Airtel, Jio, and Tata through the Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) scheme.
Enterprise-Ready: The solution targets both large enterprises, including banks and manufacturers, as well as SMBs, with a view to replacing existing legacy PBXes with new AI-first telephony.
Future Expansion Planned: Zoom is planning pan-India reach, and other rollouts are awaiting regulatory approvals.
Zoom Contact Center Launches: The AI Contact Center provides omnichannel interaction—voice, video, messaging, and social media—through Indian data centers for industry compliance in government, healthcare, and finance.
We will transform the manner in which India's businesses interact and collaborate with one another," said Sameer Raje, General Manager and Head of India & SAARC, Zoom.
With this expansion, Zoom will continue to drive India's shift to next-gen communications from inflexible, legacy communications to flexible, AI-driven collaboration, allowing businesses to streamline workflows and improve employee and customer experiences.
