Roads, Rivers, And Renewal: Uttarakhand Approves Rs 256 Crore Ahead Of Kumbh Mela 2027

On May 9, 2026, CM Dhami sanctioned Rs 256 crore for infrastructure and public utility projects across Uttarakhand. These initiatives are part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen facilities ahead of the Kumbh Mela 2027, which will attract millions of pilgrims to Haridwar.

Road And Infrastructure Works

The approved projects include Rs 2.72 crore for renovation of the four-lane road from NH-58 to the industrial area, Rs 2.13 crore for Pathulok Barrage Road improvements, and Rs 1.36 crore for Bahadrabad-Rohalki Tiraaha to Alipur-Sukrasa-Pathri Ambuwala road upgrades. These works aim to improve connectivity and ease pilgrim movement.

Ganga Corridor Development

Under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme, Rs 115 crore has been allocated for redevelopment of Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh, and Rs 69.06 crore for North Har Ki Pauri development in Haridwar. These projects will enhance riverfront facilities and create modern corridors for spiritual tourism.

Water And Utility Upgrades

The CM approved Rs 6 crore for replacing Haridwar’s pumping water supply scheme and another Rs 6 crore for repairing roads in Har Ki Pauri, Kankhal, and Gaurishankar areas. Additionally, Rs 99 lakh has been sanctioned for electricity line shifting works, ensuring uninterrupted services during the mega event.

Security And Deadlines

Dhami directed officials to complete all permanent infrastructure projects by October 2026, well ahead of the Kumbh Mela. Plans include modern surveillance systems, expanded pilgrim facilities, and improved disaster management to ensure safety and smooth operations during the gathering.
