Royal Enfield’s Visionary Rides Again: Siddhartha Lal Steers Eicher Motors’ Future, Govindarajan Powers Up as MD

Eicher Motors Limited (EML) announces a significant leadership transition today, effective February 13, 2025, with Siddhartha Lal joining as Executive Chairman and B. Govindarajan joining as Managing Director. This marks the end of the illustrious 25-year long tenure of S. Sandilya as Chairman, wherein he has been the guiding force in shaping the growth of the company.

 

Siddhartha Lal, the person who has spearheaded the transformation of Royal Enfield into a global midsize motorcycle leader, will now be focusing on establishing EML's long-term vision, strategic direction, and brand building. Lal emphasized his emphasis on innovation-led driving, technology integration, and leadership development, stating, "I look forward to shaping EML's vision for the decades ahead and mentoring the next generation of leaders as we continue our journey of growth and transformation."

 

B. Govindarajan, who remains CEO at Royal Enfield, has close to nearly three decades of experience with Eicher Motors behind him, which he is taking to his new position as Managing Director. He was thankful to the trust placed in him and stated, "I am really honoured and thrilled to assume this new position and look forward to driving the company on its growth momentum with continued support from my team."

 

The board also appointed Vinod Aggarwal as Vice Chairman (Non-Executive) and welcomed Ira Gupta and Arun Vasu as Independent Directors, strengthening EML's commitment to good governance and sustained growth.
