₹1,000 Crore Electronics Boom: Dixon, Micromax Ignite India’s Manufacturing Revolution

India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem is going to see a paradigm change as Dixon Technologies, Micromax, and Optiemus Electronics say they will invest ₹1,000 crore each under the government's ₹22,919-crore scheme for electronics component manufacturing. The ambitious plan is aimed at increasing domestic manufacturing of high-value components, getting local value addition to 30-35%, and creating jobs.

Dixon Technologies is taking its cue with a pre-packaged investment in camera module and display assembly lines. Coinciding with the announcement of the scheme, Chairman Sunil Vachani stressed the need for the initiative in perpetuating their achievement in producing finished goods. Micromax, on the other hand, is looking into its own joint ventures with international partners from South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to establish its display assemblies and mechanics for mobile phones, laptops, and wearables. Co-founder Rahul Sharma made announcements regarding offering high-value components beginning next financial quarter.

Optiemus Electronics is also readying itself with phased investments to build a strong injection molding and tool room ecosystem. The firms are on the lookout for partners to tap advanced technologies and expand output.

This collaborative effort aligns with India’s “Make in India” vision, aiming for $500 billion in electronics production by 2030 while competing globally with manufacturing giants like China and Vietnam.
