SBI Raises $1 Billion in India's Largest Dollar Loan of 2025

State Bank of India (SBI) has successfully raised $1 billion in the largest dollar-denominated syndicated loan of 2025. This significant transaction provides a much-needed boost to India's lagging foreign-currency debt market. The five-year loan facility did not utilize a greenshoe option to increase the amount by an additional $250 million. The deal highlights SBI's strategic move to diversify its funding sources and support general corporate purposes. Despite a decline in foreign-currency loans by Indian issuers, SBI's loan marks a positive trend, potentially signaling increased activity in the sector.
