In a remarkable display of academic brilliance and perseverance, Devdutta Majhi, a student from Katwa, Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal, has clinched the coveted All India Rank 1 in the JEE Main 2025 (Session 2), securing a perfect 100 percentile. This feat is a new milestone in her already shining academic career, which started with her topping the West Bengal Madhyamik exam in 2023 with a staggering score of 697 out of 700.

A Consistent Record of Excellence

Devdutta's ascendancy to the pinnacle has been nothing less than inspirational. She followed up on her Madhyamik success with another string of victories, rising to the ranks of the West Bengal state topper in JEE Main 2025 Session 1 by scoring a virtual perfect 99.99921 percentile and obtaining an All India Rank of 275. Her jump to AIR 1 during the second session, courtesy a perfect NTA score, bears testimony to her unwavering commitment and studious acumen.

The Making of a Champion

Years of dedication and rigorous study are behind this achievement. Devdutta started preparing for JEE the moment she finished her Madhyamik exams, initially depending on self-study and then taking classes in coaching as well as online classes. Her day consisted of 10–12 hours of intense study, all from the comfort of home and with the motivation provided by her mother, a schoolteacher and her ever-present source of support.

"She began preparing for her Joint Entrance Exam the very next day after her Madhyamik. She didn't know how to start first. I encouraged her to start self-study, and subsequently, she joined coaching centres and online classes," said her mother.

Beyond Academics

Even with the intense study routine, Devdutta achieves balance in life by taking care of her love for nature and animals. She is famous for looking after stray animals within her area and treasures moments of silence in nature, which serve to recharge her batteries for school.

Looking Ahead

With her sights now on JEE Advanced and plans to pursue a course of study at a top-tier institution such as the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Devdutta's quest is a long way from over. She also intends to sit for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE), testament to her will and desire for greatness.
