SECL's Coal Quality Leap Fuels Rs 53 Crore Windfall

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has achieved a remarkable 20% improvement in coal quality between October 2024 and January 2025, resulting in a Rs 53 crore financial gain. The company's coal grade confirmation soared from 65% to 83%, marking a five-year high. This success stems from collaborative efforts between SECL's Vigilance team, Quality Control Department, and field officers. Mega projects like Dipka and Kusmunda saw grade confirmations surpass 90%, contributing Rs 17 crore to the total benefit. SECL's commitment to enhancing coal quality has not only boosted its bottom line but also reinforced consumer confidence and operational efficiency.
