Singapore Tightens Grip on Foreign Influence in Race-Based Groups

Singapore has passed a groundbreaking law to protect its multicultural society from foreign interference. The Maintenance of Racial Harmony Bill requires race-based organizations to disclose foreign donations, affiliations, and leadership details. The government can now issue restraining orders against entities accepting foreign funds or individuals spreading content that may harm racial harmony. This move aims to preserve Singapore's delicate racial balance, with its population comprising 74% Chinese, 13.6% Malay, and 9% Indian residents. The law signals Singapore's commitment to safeguarding its social fabric in an increasingly globalized world.
