Smashing Career Comes Full Circle in Chennai

Achanta Sharath Kamal, Indian table tennis poster boy, has come out of retirement and will play his last international event at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Star Contender in Chennai this month. The 42-year-old table tennis great has played for over two decades. Sharath has a string of seven Commonwealth Games gold medals, two Asian Games bronze medals, and five Olympics to his name. Even with his advancing age, he is still the top Indian male player in the world at 42nd place. Sharath's choice of ending his career in his home city of Chennai lends a touching element to his retirement from competitive table tennis.
