Sri Lanka Greenlights Major Solar Project with India's NTPC: A Leap Towards Energy Independence

Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved a groundbreaking solar power initiative in partnership with India's National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). The project, to be developed in two stages in Sampur, will significantly boost Sri Lanka's renewable energy capacity. The first stage will establish a 50 MW solar plant, followed by a 70 MW expansion in the second stage. This collaboration aligns with Sri Lanka's ambitious goal to generate 70% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The project, with a total capacity of 120 MW, will enhance energy security, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen Indo-Sri Lankan ties in the green energy sector.
