Startup Surge: Delhi’s Policy Pivot to Power 5,000 Ventures by 2035

The Delhi government has unveiled the draft Startup Policy 2025, a bold blueprint to transform the capital into a global innovation hub. Anchored by a Rs 200 crore venture capital fund, the policy aims to nurture 5,000 startups over the next decade.

Key highlights:
1. The VC fund will invest in early-stage startups via equity and structured debt, with co-investment from private players.
2. Startups will receive 100 percent lease rental reimbursement up to Rs 10 lakh annually for three years.
3. Patent filing support includes Rs 1 lakh for Indian and Rs 3 lakh for international applications.
4. Operational allowance of Rs 2 lakh per month for one year will cushion early-stage burn.
5. Focus sectors include AI, robotics, fintech, biotech, green tech, gaming, and e-waste management.
6. A virtual incubation network and single-window system will streamline support and approvals.
