Step Back in Time and Into Nature: Franklin Creek’s 'A Day at the Mill' Beckons

The Franklin Creek Conservation Association (FCCA) would like you to experience nature and history at its annual event, A Day at the Mill, on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Franklin Creek Grist Mill in Franklin Grove, Illinois. The family-friendly event promises a mix of education, entertainment, and outdoor adventure.

The day begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the grand opening of the mill's new wildlife display. Families can watch live corn-grinding demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., shop more than 20 vendors of crafts and sweets, and shop the gift store filled with distinctive items. Guided hikes will leave at 11:30 a.m., with three difficulty levels--a scenic bluebell trail and more challenging quarry hikes.

Regardless if you're a nature lover or history enthusiast, this event will have something to offer everyone. Admission is complimentary, although a $5 family donation is optional to help maintain FCCA's conservation efforts.
