Sujata Karthikeyan steps down: A remarkable career in public service concludes

Sujata Karthikeyan, a distinguished Odisha cadre IAS officer and wife of VK Pandian, has officially taken voluntary retirement from her illustrious career in public administration. The Central Government approved her request, effective March 13, 2025, waiving the mandatory three-month notice period.

A 2000-batch IAS officer, Karthikeyan's career has been marked by impactful initiatives, including the "Mission Shakti" program, which empowered over 70 lakh women through self-help groups. She also introduced innovative schemes like the bicycle distribution initiative for schoolgirls and the inclusion of eggs in mid-day meals, both of which were scaled statewide.

Karthikeyan's tenure saw her serving in key roles, such as the first woman Collector of Cuttack district and Special Secretary in the Finance Department. Her contributions to women's empowerment, education, and rural development have left an indelible mark on Odisha's governance.
