Sustainable Farming: New Water Management Guidelines Issued for Wheat Growers

In response to growing concerns over water scarcity, the government has introduced detailed water management guidelines for wheat growers. The advisory stresses the importance of timely irrigation at critical growth stages, such as crown root initiation, flowering, and grain filling, to maximize crop yield. Farmers are encouraged to adopt modern techniques like drip irrigation, laser leveling, and soil moisture sensors to reduce water wastage.

The guidelines also recommend mulching to retain soil moisture and emphasize the efficient use of canal water and groundwater. This initiative aims to ensure sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security by optimizing water use in wheat farming.
