Tamil Nadu's Assistant Surgeon Recruitment Controversy: Eligibility Deadline Sparks Debate

Tamil Nadu's Health Minister Ma Subramanian has confirmed that doctors registered with the TN Medical Council after July 15, 2024, are ineligible for the ongoing assistant surgeon recruitment. This decision affects approximately 400 doctors from the 2018 batch, with nearly 150 securing top 1000 ranks in the exam. The strict adherence to the July 15 deadline has sparked controversy, as some candidates claim delays in university documentation led to late registrations. The Medical Services Recruitment Board's (MRB) alleged failure to properly vet applications has further complicated the situation, raising concerns about transparency in the recruitment of 2,642 assistant surgeons.
