Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the Tata Group's legacy crown jewel, now accounts for 44.8% of the group's overall market capitalisation—its lowest point since 2009. Though TCS is still the Tata group's most valuable company, this change is good news: the increasing strength and appreciation in market value of other Tata businesses.
Tata Group's 25 listed entities have witnessed high activity in the past few months. While TCS stock has been buffeted by worldwide IT industry headwinds and a 1.7% fall in quarterly net profit, other group entities have remained resilient and growing. This diversification is a reflection of Tata's successful foray into industries such as automobiles, consumer goods, and renewables, with entities such as Tata Motors and Tata Power becoming investor favorites.

The changing market cap mix reflects the Tata Group's resilience to change and its capacity to survive and grow across sectors, less dependent on a single anchor and more towards creating a balanced, future-proof conglomerate.
