Tech Meets Tractor: Pune Gears Up for India’s First International Agri Hackathon

In a pioneering effort, Pune will host India's first-ever International Agriculture Hackathon on June 1-3, 2025. The event has been organized by the Maharashtra Government and has been planned with an aim to transform the agriculture industry by merging new-age technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), renewable energy, and sophisticated irrigation systems.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar unveiled the official website of the hackathon, underscoring how it can facilitate farmers and increase innovation in farming. "The hackathon will give a stage to young entrepreneurs, startups, and researchers to develop scalable ideas that solve severe problems in the industry," said Pawar.

The hackathon will have competition in eight fields, such as water conservation, agri-mechanization, post-harvest technology, and supply chain optimization. Being supported by international partners such as Israel's NatureGrowth and the Netherlands' Agriculture Department and national partners like NABARD and MCCIA, the hackathon is going to draw attention from around the world.

Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi emphasized the event's objective of promoting cooperation among stakeholders to provide food security and enhance productivity. With registrations now open, this initiative is set to be a milestone in determining India's agricultural future.
