Tech Power Unplugged: India’s National Technology Day Ignites Ambitions

India is at the vanguard of innovation in the world as it commemorates National Technology Day 2025, a celebration of the country's inspiring journey from scientific achievements to technological supremacy. This year's celebrations, observed on May 11, are centered around the theme YANTRA – Yugantar for Advancing New Technology, Research and Acceleration, launched by the Technology Development Board under the Department of Science and Technology. YANTRA, based on the country's scientific legacy, is not only machines but the potential of systems, collaboration, and scalable solutions. The word Yugantar represents a change of paradigm, indicative of India's transition from a technology adopter to a world technology leader.

National Technology Day marks the historic milestones of May 11, 1998, when India successfully tested nuclear weapons at Pokhran during Operation Shakti and saw the first flight of the indigenously built Hansa-3 aircraft. Established by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the day celebrates the ethos of scientific curiosity, perseverance, and ingenuity that continues to define India's technological prowess.

The celebrations in 2025 unite policymakers, scientists, technocrats, industrialists, academics, and entrepreneurs.
