Tech Titans Take Over: Zomato and Jio Financial Crash Nifty 50 Party

Food delivery giant Zomato and financial player Jio Financial Services will be added to the Nifty50 index in a major reshuffle, replacing FMCG player Britannia Industries and oil marketing company Bharat Petroleum Corp. These changes, as announced by the National Stock Exchange of India, will take effect from March 28, 2025. This is the first time stocks of the computer era will enter India's most popularly tracked benchmark index. Seeing such inclusion is expected to draw large amounts of passive flows, with Zomato potentially seeing $702 million and Jio Financial Services garnishing $404 million. In contrast, BPCL and Britannia stand to see $240 million and $260 million of outflows, respectively.
