Terminal-ly Awesome: Navi Mumbai's New Airport is Cleared for Takeoff

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is all set to open for commercial operations on May 15, 2025, which will be a milestone event in the history of Mumbai's aviation sector. The new airport is expected to decongest the passenger burden from the current Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). First, NMIA will receive 10-12 million passengers a year with the capacity planned to be boosted to 30 million by 2028. The airport conducted a successful validation flight recently and is now clear for its aerodrome license. With local flights commencing in May followed by international ones in July, NMIA promises to de-congest and provide smoother travel experience for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
