Textile Sector Gets Major Boost: 19% Budget Hike to Drive Innovation and Growth

The Union Budget 2025-26 has allocated Rs 5,272 crore to the Ministry of Textiles, marking a significant 19% increase from the previous year's Rs 4,417.03 crore. This enhanced funding comes with a groundbreaking five-year Cotton Mission to boost productivity and promote extra-long staple varieties. The budget also introduces duty exemptions on shuttle-less looms and revises tariffs on knitted fabrics to strengthen domestic manufacturing. These strategic initiatives aim to transform India's textile sector, which currently employs over 45 million people and contributes $34 billion in exports.
