The Coal Connection: Unraveling India's Energy Puzzle

Coal is still the pillar of India's energy industry, accounting for a substantial portion of the nation's energy requirements. It represents about 55% of India's national energy basket and more than 70% of its electricity. In spite of international pressures to shift away from coal, India's dependence on it is set to persist based on its huge reserves and increasing energy requirements. Coal industry has witnessed huge growth, and coal production has achieved a record high while imports have gone down. This highlights the pivotal position of coal in fulfilling India's energy dreams.
