The Global Pay Divide: Where Does Australia Stand?

Australia's gender pay gap remains a significant issue, with women earning less than men across various sectors. According to recent reports, the average gender pay gap in Australia is around 14.8%, slightly below the industry comparison group's average of 15.6%. This gap is influenced by factors such as women being overrepresented in lower-paying roles and underrepresented in leadership positions. Globally, the gender pay gap averages around 23%. Australia's performance is comparable to other developed countries, but it lags behind leaders like Iceland and Finland, which have made significant strides in gender equality. Efforts to address the gap include increased transparency and initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
