The Rise of the Credit-Savvy Woman: NITI Aayog's Shocking Report Reveals 42% Surge

In a dramatic turn of events, NITI Aayog's most recent report depicts a huge spurt in financial awareness among Indian women. On December 2024, as many as 27 million women are checking their credit health every month, reflecting a 42% growth since last year. This trend stands out especially for non-metropolitan regions at 48% growth versus 30% growth in metros. The report, "From Borrowers to Builders: Women's Role in India's Financial Growth Story," points out that women now make up 19.43% of the overall self-monitoring credit base. Interestingly, Gen Z women are spearheading this financial revolution with a 56% year-on-year growth in credit monitoring behavior. This change marks a revolutionary shift in women's financial behavior and empowerment in the run-up to International Women's Day 2025.
