Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently announced a significant expansion of the Senior Citizen Financial Assistance Scheme that will benefit 50,000 more elderly residents of the national capital. The monthly pension amount will be increased by Rs 500, bringing it to Rs 2,500 for beneficiaries aged between 60 and 69 years, and Rs 3,000 for those aged 70 and above.

 

Beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and minority communities will receive an extra Rs 500 as part of the scheme, doubling previous support.

 

If beneficiary numbers exceed expectations, the government has committed to augmenting the budget without delay to accommodate additional seniors in need.
