Tick Tock Trouble: Pakistan's Slow Pace Costs Them More Than Just the Match

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan 5% of their match fee for maintaining a slow over rate during their opening 2025 ICC Champions Trophy fixture against New Zealand in Karachi. After allowing for duration extensions, Mohammed Rizwan's squad was one over short of the required rate. This sanction has been imposed by one of the ICC's elite panel match referees, Mr. Andy Pycroft. This also adds to Pakistan's woes following their defeat to New Zealand by 60 runs in their opening match. Pakistan will take on arch-rivals India in Dubai on February 23 with their tournament future on the line.
