Trade Talks Take Center Stage: Goyal's US Visit Sparks Hope

Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is travelling to Washington from March 3 to Friday to hold high-level trade talks. The visit is in the backdrop of increasing momentum towards a major bilateral trade deal between India and the US, which Goyal has referred to as the "mother of all deals.". Both countries also want to increase bilateral commerce to $500 billion by 2030, and negotiations on a multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) could start as early as fall 2025. The negotiations are likely to include different sectors, such as goods, services, and investments, which could redefine the economic relationship between the world's biggest democracies.
