Travelers, Relax! IRCTC Confirms No Changes to Tatkal Booking Hours

Against the backdrop of conflicting rumors on social media regarding Tatkal ticket booking timings' change, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has officially ruled out that there have been no changes to the current schedule. This statement comes in reaction to viral posts which stated that new booking timings for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal would come into operation from April 15, 2025.

In its press note, IRCTC reiterated that the existing windows for Tatkal bookings continue unchanged. Passengers can still book Tatkal tickets in the AC classes (2A, 3A, CC, EC, 3E) from 10:00 AM and non-AC classes (SL, FC, 2S) from 11:00 AM a day before the journey date (not the journey date itself). The guidelines for agents also stand the test of time.

Tatkal tickets are a favorite for spontaneous travel plans, and they can be booked for confirmed or waitlisted tickets with a dynamic pricing model. Still, IRCTC advised passengers to only go by official announcements and not misinformation.
