TV Today's Radio Rebirth: Creative Channel Acquires Ishq 104.8 FM for ₹200 Million

Contrary to expectations, TV Today Network Limited has disclosed that it has sold its FM radio business to Creative Channel for a consideration of ₹200 million plus taxes. This news follows closely on the heels of TV Today's initial intention to close its radio business, which comprises three FM channels in Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata under the brand name Ishq 104.8 FM.

The sale is a fresh start for the radio stations, which were on the verge of financial trouble. During FY 2023-24, the radio division reported a turnover of ₹16.18 crore but made a loss of ₹19.53 crore. The acquisition of Creative Channel may give the stations a new lease of life, saving jobs and keeping the brand alive in prime markets.

This transaction reflects the evolving nature of India's media sector, with strategic alliances and acquisitions still remaking the industry. It also reflects Creative Channel's faith in the prospects for FM radio despite recent market downturns.
