UPI Payments to Expand Across 12,000 Merchants in Singapore

In a significant development, nearly 12,000 merchants in Singapore are set to accept payments via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). This expansion follows a partnership between NPCI International Payments and HitPay, aiming to provide a seamless payment experience for Indian tourists. The phased rollout will cover various establishments, including tourist spots, restaurants, and retail stores. This move aligns with Singapore's growing popularity among Indian travelers, with over 1.2 million visitors expected in 2024. The integration will enable Indian tourists to make convenient QR code-based payments, enhancing their travel experience in Singapore.
