US Deports Over 15,700 Illegal Indian Immigrants Since 2009, Jaishankar Reveals

In a startling revelation, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar informed the Rajya Sabha that 15,756 illegal Indian immigrants have been deported from the United States since 2009. The highest number of deportations occurred in 2019, with 2,042 Indians sent back. Recently, 104 Indian nationals arrived in Amritsar on a US military aircraft, sparking controversy over their treatment during transit. Jaishankar assured that India is engaging with the US to ensure humane treatment of deportees, emphasizing that the process follows standard operating procedures established in 2012.
