Vedanta Seeks International Partner for Indian Nuclear Power Plants

In a major step towards increasing India's nuclear power capability, billionaire Anil Agarwal's Vedanta Group announced that it was looking for an international partner to construct five gigawatts of nuclear power plants. The mining group intends to utilize this capacity to supply power requirements at its plants. Vedanta has put out an advertisement inviting expressions of interest from globally-known companies that have experience in the design, construction, and operation of nuclear power plants. The firm is soliciting initial bids for the next 30 days. The project is part of India's drive to shift to cleaner energy and has the potential to change the face of India's energy sector.
