Vice President Vance Arrives: US-India Relations Poised for a New Chapter

US Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha, and their three kids arrived in New Delhi this morning on his maiden official visit to India, heralding a major chapter in Indo-US relations. The Vance family was greeted affectionately at Palam Airbase at about 10 am, beginning a four-day schedule brimming with diplomatic and cultural interactions.

Security in the capital has been beefed up as Vance's visit overlaps with a decisive stage in bilateral trade talks, particularly during a global tariff war and ongoing US-China tensions. The peak of the day will be the meeting of Vance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 6:30 pm at the PM's official residence, where both leaders are likely to discuss finalizing a key bilateral trade pact and enhancing strategic and economic cooperation.

The Vances' itinerary also involves a visit to the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple and a local handicraft fair, underlining the family's enthusiasm for India's rich cultural heritage. The group will thereafter proceed to Jaipur and Agra to see some of India's most iconic landmarks such as Amer Fort and the Taj Mahal, mixing diplomacy with cultural engagement.
