VinFast to Put 100,000 EV Charging Stations in Indonesia

Vietnamese electric car maker VinFast intends to set up to 100,000 electric vehicle charging points in Indonesia. This is an ambitious plan that comes after a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and representatives of VinFast. Moreover, VinFast's factory in West Java will start production next year, producing 50,000 units annually. The firm has spent $200 million on this EV assembly factory. VinFast is also eyeing investments in Indonesia's renewable energy space, such as wind farms and solar panels. This is in line with Indonesia's aspiration to become a leading EV manufacturing hub, driven by its abundance of nickel deposits. The rollout of EV infrastructure will drive electric car uptake in the country, which has registered a recent surge in EV sales.
