Vodafone Idea Faces Fresh Tax Penalty: Challenges Mount for Telecom Giant

Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) has been hit with a new tax penalty of 9.7 million rupees, adding to the company's financial woes. This latest setback comes amid a series of tax-related challenges for the telecom operator. Earlier this year, VIL received a GST penalty order of 10.76 crore rupees, which it plans to contest. However, the company recently secured a significant victory when the Supreme Court upheld a 1,600 crore rupee tax refund. As VIL continues to navigate its substantial debt burden and declining user base, these tax issues further complicate its path to financial stability.
