Watershed Victory: District Honoured Nationally For Exemplary Conservation Efforts

In a proud moment for grassroots sustainability, a district in India has earned national recognition for its outstanding water conservation initiatives. The accolade, conferred by the Ministry of Jal Shakti on September 26, 2025, celebrates the district’s innovative and community-driven approach to managing water resources, especially in drought-prone and agrarian zones.

The recognition comes under the National Water Awards framework, which evaluates districts on parameters such as groundwater recharge, rainwater harvesting, watershed management, and public participation. The winning district demonstrated a holistic model that blends traditional wisdom with modern techniques, setting a benchmark for replication across the country.
