Weight Watchers: Extra Kilos Now Come With Extra Charges on Trains

 The clarification came in response to questions on whether Indian Railways would adopt baggage rules similar to airlines. Vaishnaw explained that each class has defined free allowances and maximum limits, and passengers are expected to adhere to them. For example, Second Class travellers can carry 35 kg free and up to 70 kg with charges, while Sleeper Class passengers are allowed 40 kg free and up to 80 kg on payment. AC 3-Tier and Chair Car passengers have a 40 kg free limit, while First Class and AC First Class enjoy higher allowances.
