Wheat Watchers Unite: India's New Friday Ritual for Food Security

To guarantee food security and avoid market speculation, the Indian government has now announced that the current wheat stock limit will cease on March 31, 2025. On April 1, all traders, wholesalers, retailers, and processors across India will be required to declare their wheat stock positions weekly on a government portal. This new measure will require businesses to declare their stock weekly on Fridays, until further notice. The Department of Food and Public Distribution will monitor these declarations in an effort to manage prices and prevent consistent wheat shortages in regions around the country. The new government initiative also encourages all businesses to register immediately on the portal if they haven't done so already. This measure is intended to increase transparency within the wheat industry to better manage food resources for the whole country.
