When East Went Further East: Arunachal's Bihar Diwas Spectacle

Today, Arunachal Pradesh and the rest of India recognized the 113th Bihar Diwas, the day that Bihar was carved out as a super state in 1912. The day's theme - Unnat Bihar, Vikasit Bihar (Progressive Bihar, Developed Bihar) - included cultural activities and displays that revealed the character, culture, and contributions of Bihar's society to Indian civilization. The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh voiced his support for Bihar and emphasized the importance of national unity and cultural exchange between states. The event featured Bihari food, folk performances, and speeches speaking to Bihar's history. As an inter-state activity, the event emphasized the spirit of unity in diversity that is a defining feature of India's federal system.
