While the World Unpacks, Indians Still Jet-Set to the U.S.

 

Whereas overseas tourism to the US is struck by a precipitous decline in 2025—with March arrivals falling 10.3% year on year and European visitors falling 17%—India has been a silver lining. Over 2.2 million Indians visited the US in 2024, a 24% year-on-year increase and India the second-largest foreign market (behind only the UK). This boom extends into 2025 on the back of efficient visa processing: the US gave over 1 million visas to Indians in 2024 and increased interview capacity by 250,000.

 

Goldman Sachs warns that foreign tourism losses could cost the US economy up to $90 billion because of geopolitical tensions and Trump policies as deterrents. But Indian tourists, who contribute $20 billion annually, are not deterred, with Brand USA anticipating sustained growth ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
