In a major step towards rejuvenating the Yamuna River, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma declared that 1,300 tonnes of trash have been removed in the last ten days. After conducting a recent boat survey, Verma reiterated the government's resolve to clean the river, one of the major promises made by the BJP during its election campaign. He proposed upgrading sewage treatment plants and stopping untreated wastewater from flowing into the river. The project has the objective of turning the Yamuna into a cleaner, livelier water body, with work continuing on shaping the riverfront into a cultural center.
