Zomato and Jio Financial Services Set for Nifty 50 Inclusion in March Rebalancing

Zomato, along with Jio Financial Services, is expected to join India's benchmark Nifty 50 index within the March 2025 rebalance. An official announcement is expected after market hours on February 21, 2025, with changes effective March 31. Analysts, meanwhile, predict impressive inflows, with figures coming in at $631-702 million for Zomato and $320-404 million for Jio Financial Services. BPCL and Britannia Industries would be the likely exclusions, with outflows pegged at $201-240 million and $240-260 million, respectively. Clearly, it is a sign of the increasing heft of new-age tech and financial services firms in Indian equities space. The inclusion will see huge volumes of trading as index funds realign their portfolios.
