Africa's integration path continues to be a process of both progress and challenges in 2025. Developments like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and proposals for visa-free travel by the African Union (AU) are great steps towards unifying the continent. AfCFTA has the potential to grow intra-African trade by 50% by 2025, but delayed implementation and political unrest hinder its full potential. Conversely, the AU's Visa-Free Roadshow aims to ease restrictions on mobility, crucial for economic growth and trade. Still, over 50% of African states still require visas from most Africans, hindering regional cooperation. Setbacks such as the withdrawal of the Alliance of Sahel States from ECOWAS only underscore risks of fragmentation.
