Airtel Nigeria's CEO, Dinesh Balsingh, has strongly defended the recent 50% increase in telecom tariffs approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Balsingh emphasized that this adjustment is crucial for the survival and growth of the telecommunications sector while protecting consumer interests. The hike, the first in over a decade, aims to address the 300% surge in operational costs faced by telcos in the past 18-24 months. Balsingh assured customers that the increase would enable continued investment in network infrastructure and improved service delivery.
