Anonymous and Awesome: Government Invites Data Contributions for AI Kosh!

In a key step to further develop artificial intelligence (AI), the Indian government has welcomed private companies and startups to provide anonymous, non-personal data sets to the AI Kosh repository. The plan is to help improve access to data required to train large language models and build AI applications suitable for India. Big firms such as Google, Uber, and PhonePe are motivated to provide anonymized user data without breaching privacy at the individual level. Contributions from various companies, including Sarvam AI and Ola Krutrim, have already been received by the government. The initiative falls under the overall IndiaAI Mission that aims to build a strong AI innovation ecosystem while following rigorous data protection measures under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
