Asian Winter Games Conclude, Indian Athletes Await Dues

The 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, concluded on February 14, 2025, with historic achievements and record participation. While China dominated the medal tally, India's performance was notable despite finishing without medals. Figure skater Tara Prasad impressed with an eighth-place finish in women's figure skating. However, the Indian contingent faces financial challenges as athletes await reimbursement for their expenses. The sports ministry had initially approved only 41 of the 76 proposed athletes for government funding, citing strict selection criteria. This decision faced criticism from the Indian Olympic Association, highlighting the ongoing struggle for support in Indian winter sports.
