Astra Microwave JV Secures ₹2.86 Billion Defence Order from Ministry of Defence

Astra Microwave Products Ltd., a key player in India’s defense electronics sector, revealed that its joint venture with Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems—Astra Rafael Comsys Pvt. Ltd.—has secured a ₹2.86 billion (₹286 crore) order from the Ministry of Defence. The order is for the supply of 93 additional sets of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and associated components for the Indian Air Force’s Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.

The SDRs are critical for secure, real-time communication and network-centric operations. This order builds on previous contracts and highlights the government’s continued trust in indigenous defense manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
